Asian Drama Challenge Day 4

Day 4: Your first Taiwanese Drama?

This is undoubtably Hana Kimi, Taiwanese Version. This drama is also called 花樣少年少女 / Hua Yang Shao Nian Shao Nu. This uncovers my love for Taiwanese-pop because i fell in love with the cast of Hana Kimi and its sountracks.
There's Wuzun, Jiro Wang from Fahrenheit, and Ella of SHE, as well as Danson Tang. All are popular Taiwanese pop singers at the time.

Yep! This drama was extremely funny, and silly at the time. As a typical Taiwanese drama, many things were over-exaggerated for comedic relief. Jiro's character himself was created for comedy.

The OST was also AMAZING and catchy! I love all the songs from Fahrenheit, and especially the opening theme called Zen Me Ban by SHE.

The ending theme was Zhuan Shu Tian Shi, or Personal Angel by TANK. This song was a perfect ballad that I love in ending themes.

Overall a great drama, i wouldn't watch it again because the comedy and bad acting would probably pissed me off. Plus I'm no longer attracted to these idols, but the younger me was, so I'm going to leave it at that. Why rewatch it and tainted the beautiful memories I had of this drama.

Day 3:  Your first Korean Drama?

This was an easy one because I can still vividly remember my mom cried at the ending, and I started laughing at her for crying for a drama. The irony! because it's the opposite right now since I would cried watching dramas and my mom would yell at me for crying.

Yep! it's Glass Slippers-- a story about two sisters, who lost each other due to an accident and both ended up meeting each other later on, not knowing one another and fell in love with the same guy. This drama have the cast of
Surprisingly, the young me had a fangirl crush on Han Jae Suk, instead of So Ji Sub! This drama was a mark for So Ji Sub in portraying his character as a delinquent boy in the neighborhood that fell in love with Kim Hyun Ju and engaged in a love squared with the two sister and Han Jae Suk.

This drama was impressive because I hated the antagonist so much, and I dont think I've ever hated another antagonist so much. Yep! that's her. Kim Min Sun.The antagonist that I hated so much.  This just proves that she's a great actress in order to make viewers hate her that much.

Asian Drama Challenge- Day 2

Day 2: Your First Japanese drama?

Let see, my first Japanese drama was definitely one that I can't forget at all. It is still one of my all time favorite Japanese drama

1 Litre of Tears! Yes. This was actually my first Japanese drama, and I picked the most tearjerker among tearjerkers. This drama was so amazing that it sets such a high standard for me when I look for a Japanese drama to watch. First of all, the title is a little weird because it's spelled 1 Litre not 1 Liter. This drama is about a young high schooler that diagnosed with an incurable diease called spinocerebellar degeneration, which later lead to bedridden, unable to walk, talk, or eat. 1 Liter of Tears is base off a real story that told a journey of a brave young female that fought this disease and how her family and friends helped her with it.

This drama so much emotions of youth, friendship, family. It slowly sucks you in with this enriched emotions and never let you out. Erika Sawajiri becomes extremely famous after this show and this becomes such an iconic role for her. It's a double edge sword that made her never get out of that Aya role-- she was offered another role as an incurable patient that has extreme allergic reaction from UV rays (Taiyo no Uta or Midnight Sun)-- much similar to the role in the drama 1 Liter of Tears. Nishikido Ryo was also extremely popular after this role. As a member of Johnny's Entertainment, many were shocked of his portrayals of the love interest of Aya, many of his crying scenes were emotionally touching and real!

This drama will make you shed literally 1 Liter of tears! Not Kidding! The impact that it creates is phenomenal. The real Aya who wrote in her diaries change the life of many, including herself. It makes you realized the beauty of being alive, and the appreciation for your family and friends. It makes you thankful for what you have today.

Apparently, they're creating a remake for this drama, which is going to starred with Park Bo Young. This is such a great news because Park Bo Young has the innocent looks of a high schooler and her the acting skills that will delivers the sadness and the deep meaning behind this story. I'm Excited!!

Day 1: First Drama you watched?

Let say, when I first saw the challenge, I thought to myself "this isn't bad at all, I mean, I watch all kinds of dramas, I'm sure this is easypeazzy."

Nope. I was wrong. This first question already got me stuck because I can't even remember what my first drama was. I've seen many as a child  including the famous drama turned-novels like Return of Condor Heroes 1995 version or even the oldest version of the Monkey King 1986.

The Monkey King (1986)
Return of Condor Heroes (1995)
I remembered watching these two as a child, but I don't even know if they count because I forgot when I first saw these. For sure it was before I was 8 years old.

However, I'm going to cheat and say that it is Wrong Sedan Chair, Right Bribegroom.
It is an old drama I've seen when I was little that left a deepest impression in me. I think this drama counts because it's one of the earlier drama that I follows without skipping any episode.

This drama is remarkable because it entails the best casts with an interesting plot that made mini-me constantly craving for more. It's definitely a precious childhood drama of mine.

This drama is a must watch!

Synopsis from DramaWiki:

Two women set out on the same day to be married, but as they were traveling to their new homes, rain forced them to take shelter in a temple; they are Du Bing Yan and Li Yu Hu. As soon as the rain stopped, they quickly set out again. Unbeknownst to the people lifting the carriages, the women had accidentally got in the wrong carriages!
Through a series of trials with their new spouses, the two new couples grow to love each other. As they say, it's fine to get on the wrong bridal carriage, as long as you don't marry the wrong person.

My Recall of the drama:

Du BingYan and Li YuHu are two completely different females. BingYan comes from a rich family, is gentle and well manner, intelligent and well literate. Whereas YuHu excels at martial, is righteous, not your typical well-manner female and extremely straightforward. Both were on their way to married someone they didn't love/didn't even know. Their red veils got switched in a hurry and both entered an an accident marriage. In this situation, fate let the two females married on the same day, stopped at the same temple, and swap their red wedding veil. This lead to the new beginning to these two female's lives.

This is what my grandma used to say, "people's choice can't beat heaven's decision." and it means that people's decision can't beat fate. I don't know if I translated that correctly, but that's the gist of it.

I dont want to spoil too much, but this is one of the best ending I've seen in a drama! :D i think the title already tells you that their marriage begins with mistake but ends up more right than ever. They fell in love with another husband. But before this happiness comes with obstacles, misunderstandings. This drama have your romance, comedy, action, switching roles, struggle with family inheritance, war, faking gender! it's everything in one.

I love this drama and hopefully someone with love for ancient drama will also check it out! I didn't realized that i did a mini review of this drama. Comment below if you want a more thorough review of this drama. I know it's kinda hard to find online because I watched it on Youtube with English subbed but I believed it was removed due to license problem.
